Phlebotomy is the “art of drawing blood”. With this course you will learn the anatomy of the hand, arm, foot and blood vessels; blood composition, specimen types and coagulation factors. There is a lab component that will include instruction in phlebotomy techniques and how to properly draw and handle specimens.

Notice

Please read:  This class is now moving to a Hybrid format. Lectures will be online at the scheduled class times. Students will have 3-4 specified dates that they will need to attend face-to-face on the Algona Campus for lab practice. These dates will be determined once class begins. Upon completion of the class and lab portions of the course, students will be required to complete a clinical portion. Vaccination requirements, physical exam and other health-related requirements will vary depending on the student's clinical location. This will be discussed at the beginning of class.
