This course consists of 6 hours of Prepare to Care Core module, a minimum of 42 hours Medication Aid Module coursework and a minimum of 12 clinical hours done in the students’ home facility. The purpose of this course is to prepare individuals to safely administer non-parenteral medications in agencies/facilities licensed by DIA. The emphasis is on safe administration and students are provided with classroom, laboratory and clinical experience to assist in achieving the course competencies.

Notice

Please read:  Students must be current on the Direct Care Worker Registry if working in a facility that requires CNA's to be on the registry. Students must have worked a minimum of 480 hours in their current clinical facility prior to registering for this class. Current employer must agree to provide RN supervised clinical hours. Completion of the Prepare to Care core course (online) is required before registration. Students will have weekly assignments. Lectures, homework, and discussions will be done independently outside of class.
